Towards US Presidential Aspiration

Roberts Rolls out New Relationship with Africa, vision for 22nd Century America

Again, like in the past, the word ‘change’ is popping up in peoples’ heads. It has become a subconscious rallying point on which America will get a fresh turnaround. The word is subtly gaining traction with the arrival of Dr. Rollan Roberts II on the scene for the 2024 US presidential elections for the Republican Party.

This is fuelled by the controversy surrounding the formerRepublican US President, Donald Trump, who lost his bid for a second term, and pulling the electorate in different directions. This is especially so now that he is coming up again as a presidential candidate. On the wings of the Democratic Party, the current US President, who came into office in January 2021, has his ratings running topsy-turvy lately as the primaries approach.

So, largely torn between these politicians, and a seeming loss of confidence, Americans are tuning to the wavelength of change. This seems to be in favour of Roberts that appears to have no political baggage that will weigh him down unlike the others. He also promises America a rebirth, version 2.0

Foray into Africa and boosting foreign policy points

In a chat with mdntvlive.com, Roberts charged that past American administrations including the present one have turned their back on African nations and their leaders despite the pillaging that has been visited on it. He promised that he will be the best friend Africa will ever have in that there would be a paradigm shift from handing out foreign aids to making real investments in the continent.

He described Africa as the greatest economic frontier in the world and that under his tenure as President, the US will partner he nations in such a manner that China’s inputs in Africa will be shown for what they are – substandard.

‘America will really pay off its national debt to Africa by truly investing, not giving out handouts. Africa cannot be ignored as 70 per cent of the world’s youth will be in the continent by 2030. It means that every business needs to be in tune with Africa’ Roberts said. With such a population, it will affect the fashion design industry, entertainment, IT and draw the attention to education and training.

Background to presidential ambition

Roberts has extensive experience with good governance, infrastructure, foreign affairs, education, and diplomacy. He served with former Congress people and Ambassadors on a U.S. Delegation to South Sudan in 2021 and 2022 where he assisted with the stabilization of the transitional to permanent government. Previously, he has served as an advisor to national governments on matters of diplomacy, national security, entrepreneurship, education, clean water, wastewater, and waste-to-energy infrastructure.

His objective is to tackle complex systemic and structural challenges associated with clean water access, business, literacy education, and food security in Africa. The aim is to hasten the transformation of Africa's economic, technological, educational, social welfare, and healthcare sectors. These endeavors gave rise to the responsibility and mission of guiding America 2.0

The longer he stayed in Africa, the more evident became the fissures and challenges to America's global leadership position, unaddressed and unsecured by the current state of divisive political discourse.

To ensure a sustained global leadership into the 22nd century, Roberts authored books and initiated programs in entrepreneurship, women's empowerment, vocational training, and individual mentorship, empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds.

In 2016, he was nominated to the civilian DoD Central Command Task Force. The following year, he addressed the Chinese government on trade relations and intellectual property theft at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. He also spoke at Bloomberg's 2017 Year Ahead Conference in Shanghai. During this time, he collaborated with U.S. Congress members, Ambassadors, Special Envoys, and foreign leaders, collectively striving to enhance global security for all.

The International College of Peace Studies bestowed upon him the African diplomatic title of "His Excellency" in recognition of his role as a Peace Ambassador to Nations.

True to his academic devotion, he ventured into business, and also assisted resource-leaning people start their own businesses in different parts of the world. Roberts, who has been in leadership positions in small and large companies, believes that entrepreneurship is the wheel that propels economic success and growth irrespective of location.

Roberts is a government advisor, and now running as the 2024 Republican candidate for US presidency. He is married to Rebecca Lea Roberts, with whom they share one son, Rollan III, and has two other children.
