South Africa, renowned for its unique blend of cultures and distinct landscapes, holds a vital place in Africa's religious landscape, playing host to numerous charismatic and Pentecostal Churches. There is a certain excitement simmering among church leaders brought about by a new initiative called the National Pastors Indaba (NPI). This movement is birthing a new awakening in the spritual atmosphere, and there is need for pastors and church leaders to fully grasp its purpose and aim.
The dawn of the National Pastors Indaba (NPI)
The National Pastors Indaba is a collective effort by Charismatic and Pentecostal Churches in South Africa, birthed through the sacrifice of Apostle Dr KW Maseko of the Salvation Church Of The Revival Of Faith in Khayelitsha, Cape Town. This initiative addresses critical issues such as gender-based violence, human trafficking, substance abuse, crime, and the daunting levels of youth and graduate unemployment. The NPI is not just another organization but a much needed voice echoing the concerns and struggles of the church at every level of government- Presidential, Legislative and Local
The Prophetic founding of NPI
The birth of the NPI isn't ordinary. Apostle Maseko received prophetic words from ministers of the Gospel from the United States and Nigeria in 2007 and 2009 about a movement destined to bring positive changes in South Africa. These words ignited a new conviction, drawn from Psalm 113 verse 3, which led Apostle Maseko to birth the NPI.
The NPI holds significant importance in key areas
Kwaggafontein, Tafelkop, and the Vaal are more than just geographical locations. They hold a rich history and spiritual significance, making them the chosen grounds for the evolution of the NPI. These regions have been the backdrop of harrowing incidents ranging from brutal killings, racial discrimination to political uprisings, serving as a stark reminder of the desperate need for a spiritual renewal.
The Distinctive Essence of NPI
The NPI is unlike any Pastors' Fraternal or Forum. While Fraternals or Forums bring a group of pastors under a common banner, the NPI is a PLATFORM for leaders already affiliated with various Pastors' structures. The NPI isn't another political party seeking partnership with the government. Instead, it seeks to be an independent voice that stands as an ADVOCACY to challenging the government on matters affecting the body of Christ.
NPI's Place in South Africa's Spiritual Landscape
The NPI represents the "AWAKENING OF THE BODY OF CHRIST" in South Africa's spiritual landscape. It steps into the arena with an undeterred commitment to unite the body of Christ, spread across the nine provinces of South Africa.
Self-Financed Initiative
Currently, Apostle Maseko funds the NPI through Salvation Church and his company Luboyo Holdings (PTY) Ltd, using Kingdom Edify as a vehicle. Although there is no external financial assistance, the NPI's future is projected to be funded by those who believe in its vision and mission.
The journey ahead for NPI
The provincial consultations for NPI are to be completed by August 2023, and the Presidential National Pastors Indaba is scheduled to take place every year after the State of the Nation (SONA) Address, starting from 2024.
In conclusion, as pastors and church leaders of South Africa, you are at the vanguard of a spiritual revolution. The NPI is not just another initiative; it is a call to unite under a heavenly banner and bring transformative changes in this beautiful nation.
